When her work was brought to light years later, she was criticized for creating posed pictures, that her job from the Farm Security Commission was to provide a detached , objective and albeit clinical report to her superiors through the photographs. But like any feeling human being how could she remain detached ? She did get the subjects to pose, but like any artist, it was to communicate a message.
